MistyCloud has come to realize that Black Bellied Belle is not garnering great enough interest for our beloved readers here, and we thought that some of you might be kind enough to give some great suggestions on any interesting and exciting chinese web novels that have not been translated, so that we can bring more smiles to everyone. I am currently toying with the idea of slowing down Black Bellied Belle to take on a novel that will be of greater interest to you and everyone else and any good suggestions will be seriously considered. Please do note that no concrete decision have been made so please share with us your thoughts.

I have to admit that I’m one of the readers who didn’t really like BBB..
The plot was interesting at first, but after some time the interactions between certain characters just didn’t suit my tastes anymore..
Anyways, I just came across this newly translated manhua that’s adapted from a novel that I thought might be really interesting..
It’s called “The Evil King’s Wicked Consort”..
It’s about the immortal daughter of the heavenly king being reborn after she dies(?) in a rebellion, and then swears to get revenge for her father..
I really appreciate all the hard work MistyCloudTL has done over the years! I think going at a slow steady pace for the next while in translating BBB will be all right, and I recommend maybe picking up a novel “The Female General’s Little Childhood Sweetheart.” From the pickup thread on NU, I’d say it sounds interesting and fits with the genres you guys like.
honestly i like BBB but it does suffer from some shortcomings due to the way it was written. as another poster stated it seems each mini arc brings in 5+ people to add on top of all the others and those are important but since the pace of the story is so slow those people show up for a few chapters then it takes a while before you meet them again which if they didnt leave much of an impression could leave people wondering who they are(translator notes marking which chapter these people first appear in is usually how i see other translators help with this and is a decent way to help people remember them)
another issue is since the pacing of this story is on the slower side so i usually feel its better to save up chapters to binge read rather then continually update myself on it. if this story was in more of a novel/light novel format where it was more like book translations rather then a webnovel the pacing would be fine but since its a webnovel the slower pace really harms it especially when the action starts and it becomes cliff after cliff due to splitting of chapters.
overall the story’s nice and characters are great since its not 100% falling into the reincarnation tropes that get overused into death but since the pacing is so slow it leads to readability issues. while i cant read chinese if the splitting of chapters was done from the translation side rather then the authors side that might also have lead to some of these issues since its not a whole chapter being released at once but just a couple parts. i think if the release was more for full chapters over 4x part releases maybe readers wont feel the pacing would be as bad.

Oh, BBB is my favorite. I really like that author make some unique story without slaps and stupid bickering beetwen brainless women for some iceberg man. In this way it’s rather two other projects so common. I hope that slow didn’t meam one in a weak.

I started reading BBB when you first started reading it, then didn’t read anything for a while due to personal circumstances. When I came back I read from the beginning. I really enjoyed the early chapters, but by the time I got the banquet when she had to battle the woman whose curse she broke it had become a duty read. I don’t know why as it has all of the elements I like, but I can’t seem to get into the story as it progresses.
On the other hand, I really enjoy the other two stories you’re translating right now and I would be thrilled if you switch your focus to one of them, especially PA.

Thank you for sharing the Black Bellied Belle with us. I am enjoying the story though it is very slow paced. I think partly the reason why the story haven’t picked up among readers is the huge influx of new characters introduction that we know will be pivotal and they don’t show up again for at least 10+ chapters. I’m not sure if big batch releases would be helpful instead of 2-3 chapters a day to keep the story moving along. Some days after reading the chapters, I’m left feeling “huh…” anticipating chapters the following day, but it’s never tied up or it takes multiple chapters in to circle back. This no fault of your translation I think it’s just the pacing of how the story is told. Thanks for listening to my two-cents!
Its sad Black Bellied Belle is not garnering great enough interest. Because I liked it. The MC’s character is fresh. She is not so ruthless like the other novels MCs, she is kind heart, cunning, witty, and funny. she has twin brother.that she loved dearly. I am looking for how she will help her brother to grown up under her teaching since he also has the same element with her. Its will be so sad if this novel will going to drop. Anyway, thank you for introducing this novel. And thank you for your hard work.

Hello, Misty and Cloud. I was reader here in your site since you became a translator for Webnovel. I am sad to hear that BBB is not well-liked among the readers. I personally found it intriguing and was stockpiling chapters. If your decision to drop translating BBB is final, I would suggest for you to translate Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife. I’ve read quite a bit of the novel, and found it lovable. It will also be a new genre for you since its a rebirth-revenge type of novel with romance and politics.
I hope for you to continue translating despite the difficulties. Kudos!
Lil’ Painted Life is translating “Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife.” As of 8/03/19, it’s on chapter 78. The chapter numbers are different from the other translator. Just wanted to let you know.
But she also did say that she’s going to translate it until someone else picks it up..
