Chapter 13.2: Weak and Delicate Maternal Cousin
Brother cousin, you’re finally back! Jiao Jiao waited for a good half of the day and thought that brother cousin would not be coming back for lunch.”
Upon saying that, the woman then cough violently a few times.
The servant maid beside her immediately said anxiously: “Cousin Young Miss, are you alright? Told you you should wait in your room and you refused to listen. Your body only just managed to strengthen up a bit so you must not collapse again. The physician said that your body cannot afford to take any more distress!”
“It’s fine. Waiting for my brother cousin, it does not matter.” The frail and delicate woman held a handkerchief over her mouth to say demurely, her eyes filled with utmost affection as she glanced at Long Moshen.
Mu Wushuang could almost feel a toothache coming on from the sugary sweetness spilling out. Can’t this opera duet from the mistress and her servant have some standard at least? Did they even consider their audience’s feelings at all?
Mu Wushuang glanced at the Imperial Uncle. The Imperial Uncle’s face was expressionless, his eyes not even looking at the frail and sickly lady cousin at all. Things were starting to get just a little awkward.
Mu Wushuang’s face was one that seemed all ready to enjoy a good show.
Never did she expect that the lady cousin would suddenly turn to her, her face friendly and amiable as she asked: “And this young miss is?
“I’m just a spectator in this great show….. Er, I mean I am just coming to stay at my Imperial Uncle’s place for a few days.” A slip of the tongue, just a slip of the tongue.
The lady cousin’s pretty face beamed with a smile, like she was delighted and happy. “That’s great! I am always alone in the Prince’s palace and there is no one to talk to at all. I am really happy that a younger sister like you has come.”
“Haha.” Mu Wushuang flashed her a slightly embarrassed smile that was in no way impolite or rude.
The Imperial Uncle had already made his way into the palace, and the lady cousin quickly followed behind.
Mu Wushuang and her beautiful looking brother trailed slowly at the back, while Uncle Fu followed the people from the Prince’s palace to get the outer courtyard ready.
As they made their way to the dining hall, food was being brought out to the table. The deliciously fragrant scent wafted under their noses, luring out all the worms of gluttony in Mu Wushuang’s tummy.
Waiting till the Imperial Uncle has washed his hands and sat down, Mu Wushuang immediately plopped herself down right beside him, and could not wait for them to start eating.
Sensing that the Imperial Uncle was in a foul mood, she thought to herself that it must be due to the psychological trauma from being kissed against his will in the sedan, so she sat there obediently without making a single sound.
“Little Young Miss, that seat belongs to our Lady Cousin.” A servant maid suddenly appeared beside her to say, her eyes carrying a tinge of hate and disdain.
The lady cousin stood at the side, her face gentle and demure, like she had just been bullied by others.
“Is that so? Is the name of the lady cousin carved in this chair?” Mu Wushuang shot the servant maid a glance. It’s all fine if you’d come over and talked nicely, but what is the meaning of all that contempt on your face? She is not going to give up the seat so what are you going to do about it! ?
