Chapter 30.2: Please Carry On with Your Performance

 

It then seemed to dawn upon the old physician as realization showed on his face. He went on to take the lady cousin’s pulse and then clasped his hand over his fist as he turned to Long Moshen to say. 

“Your Highness, the lady cousin’s body is frail and highly short of breath, which shows that she is suffering from deficiencies in her blood and breathing, which will cause her to get sudden dizzy spells and suffer from a weakening of her heart due to her shortness of breath. The lady cousin seems to be holding an inextricable knot in her heart, her state of mind is highly depressed and she seems to be lacking in her will to carry on living. All this could have caused her bodily health to deteriorate quickly and which caused her to finally cough out blood. The lady cousin’s condition will improve only when the knot in her heart is resolved and things would be fine after she takes the medicine that this physician will be prescribing for her. The most important thing we should target first and foremost now is the thing that is weighing on the lady cousin’s mind.”

“Only when the issue in the lady cousin’s heart is resolved, will we then be able to nurse her body back to health. One’s core stems from the heart and mind, and the lady cousin must nurse herself back to health before the next full moon, and her body must not spill any more blood before that happens.”

The old physician’s face looked so sad and rueful.

Full moon night again! She has heard that said so many times already! Mu Wushuang’s brows knitted up. From what the physician said, if Liu Jiaojiao’s mental condition does not improve, then she cannot lose any blood. She could still remember Sang Lan telling her that the Imperial Uncle needs Liu Jiaojiao’s blood to expel the poison from his body, and now it seems like that was true.

“This Prince understands. Yun Hao, make sure you escort Physician Wang out properly!”

Long Moshen put his teacup down abruptly, his face cold and frosty as he commanded in a clear loud voice.

Physician Wang thought that he would be receiving a reward from His Highness and he shuffled his feet quickly to follow Yun Hao out, an unreadable expression on his face.

Mu Wushuang mentally clicked her tongue to herself. Judging from the look of things, the Imperial Uncle could probably tell that Liu Jiaojiao was really just faking it, but did not know what Liu Jiaojiao was ultimately trying to achieve. And from the tone of the Imperial Uncle’s voice just now, that old physician would probably not come to a good end.

To think that Liu Jiaojiao would dare to rope in the physician to try and deceive the Imperial Uncle. Either she has forgotten how brutal and ruthless the Imperial Uncle can be, or she has gotten too far ahead of herself and thought that she really meant something to the Prince Regent!

“Brother cousin, I will be fine.”

Liu Jiaojiao stirred and came awake, unaware that Long Moshen had seen right through her, and her pretentious little act.

Mu Wushuang stretched her hand out and grabbed up a bunch of melon seeds before shifting herself further into the corner to sit herself down comfortably, her eyes gleaming with anticipation as she thought silently to herself: “Come on already, please carry on with your performance!”
