Chapter 3.1: Run! It’s a Beast Tide!

 

The Hou Manor had suddenly caught fire, the very next instant just as Mu Ningxue threatened Mu Wushuang.

Mu Ning Xue did not seem to be surprised in the slightest but her eyes carried a tinge of mirth. Even using just her big toe to think, Mu Wushuang immediately knew that the fire at the Hou Manor was linked to them.

How vicious hearted could they be to want to burn Old Lord Hou to death together with the Hou Manor! That is their Grandfather! They must have hearts of vipers and scorpions!

Mu Wushuang’s gaze turned icy cold, like that of Death himself. Two sound slaps struck viciously onto Mu Ningxue’s gorgeous looking face, before a kick sent her flying a distance away.

Mu Ningxue had never ever thought that Mu Wushuang would actually strike her, but assumed that the young woman would be so frightened that she would tremble in fear before quickly handing the Tiger Talisman over. As Mu Wushuang had always been a coward who only dared to bully the weak, Mu Ningxue did not have her guard up at all. Moreover, Mu Wushuang’s speed was so fast that she could only see a blur of movement, it would be too late no matter how fast her reaction was. Hence, she received two full sound slaps right across both cheeks, which immediately swelled up, making her face look like a pig’s head.

What made it worse was that Mu Wushuang’s kick was really powerful and it had struck her right on her chest, the impact causing chest to go numb, with the dark black print of a foot left on her light blue chiffon dress. Pain, she could endure, but it was hard to bear the humiliation she felt right at that moment.

“Dare to threaten me? The last person who threatened me had his corpse fed to the dogs! Big Sister dear, watch the words that come out of your mouth. I will not bother to consider our sisterly relations next time.”

Mu Wushuang’s voice was frigid.

“Third Sis, I was kind enough to come offer you some heartfelt advice, and this is how you treat me. Forget it. I must have been blind. From now onwards, we do not have any sisterly bonds between us!”

Mu Ningxue clutched her hand over her chest, her face sad and forlorn as tears brimmed in her eyes. What a worryingly pitiful sight that wrenches the men’s hearts.

Ximen Kang quickly ran over to help her up, and with a malevolent look in his eyes, he ordered his men: “Guards! Mu Wushuang is stubbornly defiant and is resisting the Imperial decree! She must be executed on the spot!”

“Tsk tsk tsk, what a huge big *white lotus blossom! It’s such a great pity you’re not in opera.” Mu Wushuang said, clicking her tongue as her gaze swept lightly over the guards moving to surround her. In a voice dripping with contempt, she continued on: “All these guys won’t even be enough to give me a warm up. You, you, and you. Why don’t you guys come at me together instead?”

(*Translator Note: white lotus blossom 白莲花 bai2 lian2 hua1 – a white lotus is used as a metaphor on a person who acts so pure and pristine on the outside, but their hearts are dark and shady inside, their minds full of rotten and decaying thoughts, always trying to put up clean and honest front, with a holier than thou demeanor.)

Mu Wushuang’s finger was pointed right at Ximen Kang and the two sisters, Mu Ningxue and Mu Ningxuan. She then curled her finger a couple of times tauntingly.
