Chapter 22.1: Sharing a Room
— Ancient border town, a little town at the common boundary between the Wounded Unicorn Forest and the Vermillion Bird Kingdom —
Duanmu Xi looked at the men and women on the streets and her brows knitted up slightly.
The people here are dressed really light and thinly.
Xuanyuan Mo’s gaze did not turn or stray in the slightest throughout the way he came but even though that was the case, his flawless countenance still attracted the sideways glances of many women.
After walking a good distance, the two of them then went into a clothing shop.
Seeing the two of them enter, the shopkeeper of the clothing store quickly came forward in greeting.
“Esteemed patrons, please come in.”
“Our two customers must be from a foreign country?”
The shopkeeper tried to make friendly conversation as he served the two of them tea.
“Get me two suits of white clothes suitable for me, and also another two suits of black clothes with thinner cloth for him, the more conservative ones.”
The shopkeeper was befuddled and he scowled inwardly.
[This little lass is still so very young but the way she thinks sure isn’t.]
And Xuanyuan Mo just blushed a little.
Coming out from the clothing store, the corners of Xuanyuan Mo’s lips were slightly raised.
Around a corner not too far away from them, two black robed women were asking around, trying to find out something from the people.
Suddenly, one of the black robed women seemed to have spotted something and she quickly nudged her elbow against her companion beside her.
“Fourteenth, look over there. That girl in white.”
Fourteenth followed Thirteenth’s gaze and looked. She was so shocked she grabbed at Thirteenth’s arm.
“Is that Her Highness the Crown Princess? Is that Her Highness?”
“You think that she is Her Highness the Crown Princess as well don’t you? Keep an eye on her here and do not lose sight of her. I will release a signal flare to alert Phoenix Five.”
“Mm.”
Phoenix Thirteen pulled out a signal flare at her hip and after lighting it up, a bright green flare of light shot up into the sky.
And Xuanyuan Mo who was following behind Duanmu Xi at that moment seemed to feel something but when he turned his head to look around, he did not discover anything.
After while, Phoenix Five appeared before the two women. “Thirteenth, Fourteenth, did you manage to get information about the Crown Princess?”
“Sister Fifth, look over there.” Thirteenth said as she pulled on Phoenix Five excitedly.
“It’s Her Highness! It’s really Her Highness! This is great! This is really great…..” Seeing the face that she could not be more familiar with, Phoenix Five’s eyes filled up with emotion.
After that burst of emotion, Phoenix Five quickly calmed down.
“I want to personally escort Her Highness back to the Imperial Capital. Thirteenth, ride as fast as you can back to the capital and report to the Her Majesty and His Majesty about this.”
“I will go immediately.”
“Fourteenth, you go gather up the others and have them protect Her Highness in secret. Do not let anyone know Her Highness’ real identity.”
“Yes.”
