Chapter 34.1: Phoenix Song Palace

It was night, Duanmu Xue and Huangfu Che were waiting anxiously in the Bonded Hearts Palace for Duanmu Xi to arrive.

“Her Highness the Crown Princess arrives…..”

Hearing the palace attendant’s singing voice outside, Duanmu Xue immediately went out with quick and hurried steps, as Huangfu Che followed behind her in helplessness.

Duanmu Xi had just stepped into the palace when she saw Duanmu Xue and Huangfu Che already standing at the door, and she quickly offered her greetings.

“Mother, Father, may peace be with you.”

“Little Xi, you’re here. Quick, come inside.”

Duanmu Xue pulled Duanmu Xi to go sit at the table and then dismissed all the palace attendants.

“Little Xi, when did you get your meridians restored? Why didn’t you tell your mother? If I had known that this Emperor’s daughter is so highly skilled, I wouldn’t have needed to send the Phoenix Guards out at all.”

Duanmu Xue held Duanmu Xi’s hands, feeling proud and perplexed at the same time.

Duanmu Xi’s eyes flashed with a glint. “You did not ask, so…..”

“Little Xi, I heard from Long Xing and Long Chen that you have already attained the Spirit Supreme level, can you tell me what is really going on here?” Huangfu Che asked, showing a rare moment of excitement.

“I came to form a contract with a water type Divine Beast unintentionally and it gave me the Water Spirit Fruit. Not only did it restore my meridians, it also turned me into a water type Spirit King.”

Duanmu Xi explained very simply.

Upon hearing that Duanmu Xi had a contracted Divine Beast, and that she had eaten the Water Spirit Fruit, the two of them were suddenly dumbfounded from shock.

“Lan Ze, come out. Meet my Father and Mother.”

Lan Ze immediately came out from the dimension of Duanmu Xi’s consciousness.

“Respects to my Mistress’ Father, Mother.” Lan Ze bowed respectfully with his hands held in front.

When they saw Lan Ze, Duanmu Xue and Huangfu Che were once again stunned into speechlessness.

[An Ancient Divine Beast, the Water Qilin? Were they dreaming here?]

Little Xi had given them just too many surprises today, making them feel as if they were in their dreams, as everything was just too surreal.

“Little Xi, since your meridians have been restored and your duel today has shown the kingdom’s people your skills, after discussing it with your father, we have decided to hand the Lady Emperor’s throne to you as soon as possible.”

[….. What is Mother saying? Where would she be able to find the time to run a kingdom now? She was still trying to find a way to save Little Shadow…..]

“Father, Mother, I want to become an Alchemist.”

“An Alchemist?” Duanmu Xue’s brows knitted up. “But to become an Alchemist, you need to first possess the ability to wield both the wood and fire elements.”

Duanmu Xi’s lips curved up. “Mother does not have to worry, as your child possesses the ability to wield all elements.”

“WHAT! ?”
